Escalating demand for new additive manufacturing technology drives the decision to expand
San Diego, CA., February 7, 2018 — GoProto, a leader in advanced 3D prototyping and short-run manufacturing, announces a major facility expansion in San Diego, California. The expansion is driven by increasing demand for HP’s Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology and Multi-Material Fused Deposition Modeling (MMFDM) as well as demand for other ongoing short-run manufacturing services.
The expansion doubles GoProto’s production capacity in its MJF additive manufacturing platforms, making them the 2nd largest provider of such services in the world. It similarly doubled its MMFDM capacity, as consumer adoption of this unique 3D printing process accelerates. The expanded facility increases GoProto’s ability to provide these revolutionary technologies to a broad spectrum of companies in aerospace, defense, automotive, healthcare, electronics, consumer products and other manufacturing industries.

Hewlett Packard’s Jet Fusion is the leading-edge technology that may ultimately replace injection molding as the preferred production method for plastic and metal parts. “For some companies, this is a reality today”, Lea says. Older technologies like SLS or Polyjet are not remotely strong or fast enough to deliver on that promise.
